Reaction of 3-amino-5-butyl-4-[(2'-cyanobiphenyl-4-yl)methyl]-4H-1,2,4-triazole (from Example 1, Step D) with chloroacetone according to the procedure of Example 1, Step E, gave a 97% yield of the title compound as a yellow-brown solid, mp 221.5°-223° C.
