Using the procedure of Example 1, Step E, 3-amino-5-butyl-4-[(2'-cyanobiphenyl-4-yl)methyl]-4H-1,2,4-triazole (from Example 1, Step D) was reacted with 3-bromo-2-butanone to give an essentially quantitative yield of the title compound as a stiff, yellow foam, suitable for use in the next step.
