A mixture of 0.152 g (0.305 mmol) of 7-[4-({(3S)-3-[(hydroxyamino)carbonyl]-2,2-dimethylthiomorpholinyl}sulfonyl)phenoxy]-5-heptynyl acetate, 3 mL of aqueous ammonium hydroxide and 3 mL of methanol was stirred at room temperature for 18 h and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was chromatographed on silica gel eluting with 1.5% methanol/dichloromethane to provide 0.09 g (65%) of (3S)-N-hydroxy-4-({4-[(7-hydroxy-2-heptynyl)oxy]phenyl}sulfonyl)-2,2-dimethyl-3-thiomorpholinecarboxamide as a white solid.
