To a solution of 4-[[(5,5-dimethyl-5,6-dihydro-8-(phenylthio)-naphthalen-2-yl)carbonyl]oxy]-benzoic Acid (Compound E26, 50.0 mg, 0.116 mmol) in 3.0 mL CH2Cl2, and 1.0 mL THF at 0° C. was added m-chloroperbenzoic acid (57-80%) (34-52 mg, 0.197-0.299 mmol). The resulting solution was warmed to room temperature and stirred overnight. Water was added and the mixture extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were washed with H2O and saturated aqueous NaCl before being dried over Na2SO4. Removal of the solvents under reduced pressure and crystallization of the residue from CH3CN afforded the title compound as a colorless solid.
