A mixture of (1R*,2R*,5S*)-8-benzyl-2-{[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]methoxy}-1-phenyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octan-6-one (Example 41; 53 mg 0.1 mmol), 5% palladium on charcoal (230 mg, 0.11 mmol) ethanol (10 ml) was stirred under hydrogen atmosphere (1 atm) at room temperature for 45 minutes. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, flushed with nitrogen gas and filtered through a pad of Celite™. The filtrate was concentrated to give the title compound. The hydrochloride salt of the title compound was prepared by treatment with ethereal HCl and recrystallised from dichloromethane:diethyl ether.
