Reaction Steps
(1R*,2R*,5S*,6R*)-8-Benzyl-2-{[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]methoxy}-6-(5-methyl-1H-tetrazol-1-yl)-1-phenyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane (Example 110; 134 mg, 0.22 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (10 ml) and hydrochloric acid (2N) (1 ml) and 10% palladium hydroxide (50 mg) added and the mixture hydrogenated at 40 psi overnight. The reaction mixture was then filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The oil was partitioned between saturated sodium hydrogen carbonate solution and dichloromethane and the organics dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo. The solid was purified by flash column chromatography [5% methanol in dichloromethane]. The hydrochloride salt was made by adding 1 equivalent of hydrogen chloride in diethyl ether to a solution in diethyl ether. The title compound was filtered off and dried in vacuo (32 mg, 26%).
