A mixture of (1R*,2R*,5S*,6R*)-8-benzyl-2-{[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]methoxy}-1-phenyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octan-6-carboxylic acid trifluoroacetate (Example 53; 2.7 g, 4 mmol), 10% palladium on charcoal (500 mg) and ethanol (30 ml) was stirred under hydrogen atmosphere (1 atm) at +40° C. for 20 minutes. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, flushed with nitrogen gas and filtered through a pad of Celite™. The filtrate was concentrated to give the title compound (2.6 g) as a white solid.
