(1R*,2R*,5S*,6R*)-8-Benzyl-2-{(1S*)-1-[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]ethoxy}-6-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-1-phenyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane (Example 128a; 3.28 g, 5.18 mmol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (30 ml) and trifluoroacetic acid added (8 ml) and the reaction mixture stirred overnight at room temperature. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo then triturated with diethyl ether (×3) to give the title compound as a brown solid (4.82 g).
