Reaction Steps

A mixture of Example 42a (3.0 g, 7.20 mmol) and OXONE® (45 g, 48.8 mmol) in ethyl acetate (400 ml) and H2O (1 mL) was stirred at 80° C. for 16 hours. The reaction mixture was filtered and the solids were washed with ethyl acetate (about 600 mL). The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound (2.8 g, 87% yield).
