Reaction Steps
7-Amino-5-methyl-2-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-indole (5 g, 22.4 mmol) prepared in Step A and cyclopentanone (1.88 g, 22.4 mmol) were added to dichloroethane (50 mL). NaBH(OAc)3 (9.5 g, 44.8 mmol) was added thereto, and the mixture was stirred for 12 h at room temperature. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was diluted with saturated aqueous NaHCO3 solution, and extracted with dichloromethane and EtOAc. The extracted organic material was washed with water and aqueous NaCl solution, and dried over MgSO4. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by column chromatography (eluent EtOAc/n-Hex=1/5) to give the title compound (3.77 g, Yield 58%).
