Procedure
Batch crystallization was performed by admixing around 1 mL of the protein solution with an equal amount of crystallization solution in a 2 mL Eppendorff reaction tube. 1 mL of a particular crystallization solution was prepared by admixing acetate buffer, sodium dihydrogen phosphate stock solution and Milli Q water. In this example, the acetate buffer molarity was 0.1 M, and the acetate buffer pH was around 4.1. Sodium dihydrogen phosphate molarity was around 4.0 M, 4.2 M or 4.4 M. The reaction tubes were stored at ambient temperature. Microscopy of 1 μL aliquots was performed multiple times during the following week.
