Reaction Steps

A suspension of 1 (0.5 gr, 1.6 mmol) in thionyl chloride (5 mL) was refluxed for 3 h. After cooling at room temperature, thionyl chloride was evaporated under vacuum and the crude acyl chloride was diluted in dry CH2Cl2 (5 mL) and cooled at T=0° C. by ice-water bath. Methoxyamine hydrochloride (0.27 g, 3.2 mmol) was added portionwise. The ice-water bath was removed and the reaction mixture was left stirring at room temperature. After complete disappearance of the starting material (TLC) a buffer solution (pH=2.0) (V=10 ml) was added, the two phases trasferred into a separator funnel and separated and the organic one was washed with brine (3×10 mL), dried over Na2SO4 and evaporated under vacuum to give pure 11 as pale yellow oil (0.47 gr, yield 85%). 1H-NMR (CDCl3) δ 9.05 (bs, 1H, CONH), 7.70 (d, 2H, J=7 Hz), 7.30 (d, 2H, J=7 Hz), 3.80 (s, 3H), 1.95 (d, 3H, J=23 Hz).
