Procedure
A mixture of 1-(2,5-dimethyl-4-nitrophenyl)-3-(dimethylamino)but-2-en-1-one (100 mg, 0.38 mmol) and hydrazine (60 uL, 1.9 mmol) in ethanol (3 mL) was heated in a microwave at 100° C. for 15 min. The obtained 5-(2,5-dimethyl-4-nitrophenyl)-3-methylpyrazol was dissolved in methanol (10 mL). To the solution was added Pd/C (10%). The reaction mixture was degassed and purged with H2 for several times and stirred under 1 atm. hydrogen gas overnight. The mixture was filtered and concentrated to afford 2,5-Dimethyl-4-(3-methyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)aniline. ESMS m/z 202 (M+H+).
