100 mg Z-Phe-Leu-OtBu was added to 5 mL CF3COOH to which a drop of water had been added. The mixture was stirred for 2 h at ambient temperature, concentrated in vacuo and co-evaporated with 10 mL toluene (2×) to obtain Z-Phe-Leu-OH in quantitative yield. 1H-NMR (CDCl3, 300 MHz): δ 7.31-7.04 (m, 10H), 6.82 (d, 1H, J=6.6 Hz), 5.79 (d, 1H, J=7.3 Hz), 4.93 (s, 2H), 4.44 (m, 2H), 2.94 (m, 2H), 1.51 (m, 3H), 0.77 (m, 6H).
