To a solution of 6-bromo-2′-ethoxy-2,2-dimethylspiro[chroman-4,4′-imidazol]-5′(3′H)-one (500 mg, 1.42 mmol) in EtOH (30 mL) was added NH3.H2O (30 mL). The mixture was refluxed for 18 h. The solvent was removed in vacuo to give a residue, which was purified by preparative TLC to give 2′-amino-6-bromo-2,2-dimethylspiro[chroman-4,4′-imidazol]-5′(3′H)-one (120 mg, 30%).
