Methyl 3-(benzyloxy)-5-(4-(5-methyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)phenoxy)benzoate (28 g, 72.1 mmol, 1 equiv.) (Intermediate 9) was debenzylated in acetic acid using 10% Pd/C (5.6 g) at 60 PSI in hydrogenation apparatus. After complete reaction, the reaction mixture was poured on ice and the solid obtained was filtered through Buckner funnel. The solid was washed with water and air-dried to furnish the title compound (18 g).
