To a solution of 1,1-dimethylethyl (1S,4S)-5-(3-methyl-N-{[(phenylmethyl)oxy]carbonyl}-L-valyl)-2,5-diazabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-2-carboxylate (31.6 g, 71 mmol) in MeOH (600 mL) was added Pd/C (12 g). The mixture was stirred for 18 h at room temperature under an atmosphere of H2 (40 psi). The reaction mixture was then filtered and the organic layer was concentrated to yield the crude product. LCMS (m/z): 312.3 (M+H).
