9-(3-tert-Butoxycarbonylamino-propyl)-1-oxo-6,7-dihydro-1H,5H-pyrido[3,2,1-ij]quinoline-2-carboxylic acid sodium salt (224 mg, 0.58 mmol) was dissolved in trifluoroacetic acid (3 mL). After 0.5 h at room temperature the reaction mixture was concentrated to provide the title compound as a beige solid. ESMS m/z 287 (MH+). NMR (MeOD-d4) δ 8.83 (s, 1H), 8.15 (d, 1H), 7.62 (d, 1H), 4.43 (t, 2H), 3.14 (t, 2H), 2.98 (t, 2H), 2.89 (t, 2H), 2.66 (tt, 2H), 2.05 (tt, 2H).
