To a solution of [N(CH3)4]2[PtCl4] or K2[PtCl4] in 5 mL of deionized water is added the cyclohexanecarbonitrile (1:1 equivalent). The reaction mixture is stirred for 10 days. Solid is filtered, and the filtrate is evaporated to dryness. A small amount of acetone is added to the residue, and solid is filtered. The filtrate is lyophilized to give the desired product.
