Procedure

To a solution of 4-[1-(3,5,5,8,8-pentamethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-naphthalen-2-yl)-vinyl]-phenyl-acetonitrile (15 mg, 0.044 mmol) in 1 mL of t-BuOH was added NaOH (1 mL of 2N solution, 2 mmol). The mixture was heated at 100° C. for 24 hours. After acidification and extraction with EtOAc, the organic fraction was dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. Purification by PTLC gave 5.2 mg of the amide product.
