Reaction Steps
To a suspension of 4-chloro-5-cyano-1-(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-1H-indole-2-carboxamide (0.05 g, 0.17 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (6 mL) was added pyridine (0.104 g, 1.32 mmol), followed by dropwise addition of TFAA (0.14 g, 0.66 mmol). The mixture was stirred at rt for 4 h and then concentrated in vacuo. The residue was partitioned between EtOAc and 0.5N HCl. The organic phase was washed with 0.5N HCl and sat'd brine, dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash chromatography (0-50% EtOAc-hexanes gradient) and the product was crystallized from CH2Cl2-hexanes to afford the title compound as a white solid (0.033 g, 72% yield): MS (ES) m/z 284 (M+1).
