| Product | 2-Chloro-5-(methylsulphonyl)benzoic acid | HCID 2329132 | 87% |
Reaction Steps
A solution was prepared using 2-chloro-5-(methylthio)benzoic acid (2.0 g, 9.90 mmol), oxone (30.4 g, 49.3 mmol) and anhydrous MeOH (100 mL). The reaction was allowed to stir at rt for 17 h and was partitioned between water and Et2O. The organic were dried (MgSO4) and concentrated to dryness to give the desired crude solid (2.0 g, 87% yield). The solid was used without further purification.
