Reaction Steps
A mixture of N-benzylpiperazine dihydrochloride (7 mmol) and 2-bromo-1-phenylpropan-1-one (8.4 mmol) was treated according to the general preparation 2 to obtain N1-benzyl-N4-(1-benzoylethyl) piperazine dihydrochloride (2.6 g, 5 mmol), which was reduced according to the general preparation 3 to obtain 1.28 g of the title compound, yield 67%, mp 244-246° C.).
