A mixture of 2-[2-(3-cyclopropylisoxazol-5-yl]pyrrolidin-1-yl]-4-hydroxy-6-methoxymethylpyrimidine (Method 18) (563 mg, 1.78 mmol) and phosphoryl chloride (1 ml, 10.7 mmol) was heated at reflux for 45 minutes. The volatiles were removed by evaporation, the residue dissolved in DCM, washed with saturated aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate solution, dried (Na2SO4) and evaporated. The residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel eluting with DCM/diethyl ether (100:0 and then 80:20) to give the title compound (511 mg, 81%) as a yellow oil.
