Procedure
When benzene is alkylated with propylene to produce cumene, the reaction may also take place under liquid phase conditions including a temperature of up to about 250° C., e.g., up to about 150° C., e.g., from about 10° C. to about 125° C.; a pressure of about 250 atmospheres or less, e.g., from about 1 to about 30 atmospheres; and an aromatic hydrocarbon weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) of from about 0.1 hr−1 to about 250 hr−1, preferably from 1 hr−1 to 50 hr−1.
