Procedure
The title compound (0.013 g) was prepared from 3-(4-chloro-phenyl)-4,5,7,8-tetrahydro-1H-1,2,6-triaza-azulene-6-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (Example 59, Step C, 0.74 g) using 4-methylbenzyl chloride (0.45 g) in place of benzyl chloride. The reaction sequence also yielded 3-(4-chloro-phenyl)-2-(4-methyl-benzyl)-4,5,7,8-tetrahydro-2H-1,2,6-triaza-azulene-6-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester in the alkylation step. MS (ESI): exact mass calculated for C21H22ClN3, 351.15; found, m/z 352.2 [M+H]+. 1H NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD): 7.39-7.36 (m, 2H), 7.34-7.31 (m, 2H), 7.03 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 2H), 6.90 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 2H), 5.21 (s, 2H), 2.83-2.67 (m, 4H), 2.75-2.72 (m, 2H), 2.69-2.67 (m, 2H), 2.20 (s, 3H).
