Procedure
For example, using 2-methylsulfonyl-4-[2-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-oxo-ethyl]pyrrole in this generation reaction together with eight molar equivalents of LAH yields 2-methylsulfonyl-4-[2-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl]pyrrole (a compound according to Formula X wherein: m is 2; n is 0; R is H; and X is SO2CH3 ; and Y and Z are each H). Likewise, using 3-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxybenzoyl)pyrrole in this general reaction together with eight molar equivalents of LAH yields 3-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl)pyrrole (a compound according to Formula X wherein: m is 1; n is 0; R is H; and X, Y and Z are each H).
