Reaction Steps
A mixture of the product of Procedure 15 (1.55 g, 2.02 mmol) and 90% formic acid (3 ml) was stirred for 1 hr at room temperature and diluted with EtOAc-ice-water. The mixture was adjusted to pH 3.5 with 30% NaOH below 10° C. The organic layer was separated, washed with water, dried and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was chromatographed on a column of silica gel. The column was eluted with n-hexane-EtOAc and the fraction containing the desired product was evaporated to give 712 mg (67%) of the desired product.
