Ethyl Acetate → p-Toluenesulfonic acid
Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Ethyl Acetate | HCID 8857 | — |
| Reactant | p-Toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate | HCID 521998 | — |
| Product | p-Toluenesulfonic acid | HCID 6101 | — |
Reaction Steps
A compound of Formula (IV) wherein the protecting group R5 is a trityl group is dissolved in a reaction-inert solvent (e.g., ethyl acetate), 1.0 to 1.5 molar equivalents of p-toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate is added under ice-cooling, and then the mixture is stirred for 1 to 5 hours to give the compound of Formula (V) in the form of p-toluenesulfonic acid salt. If necessary, the p-toluenesulfonic acid salt is treated with a base to give the compound of Formula (V) in the form of the free base.
