To an ice-cold solution of sodium periodate (0.025 g, 0.12 mmol) in 1:1 mixture of water and methanol was added [4-(6-phenethylsulfanylpyridazin-3-yl)piperazin-1-yl]-(2-trifluoromethylphenyl)methanone. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature over night, diluted with water and then extracted with dichloromethane. The organic layer was washed with water, dried over anhydrous MgSO4 and then concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by column chromatography to yield the title compound as a white solid (41 mg, 69.2%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.86, 7.75, 7.63-7.66, 7.56-7.59, 7.37, 7.25-7.28, 7.21-7.17, 7.07-7.09, 4.04-4.10, 3.83-3.91, 3.70-3.80, 3.45-3.35, 3.26-3.30, 3.2-3.15.
