Compound 1 (0.7 g, 2.43 mmol) was dissolved in 34 mL EtOH. NaBH4 (0.18 g, 4.87 mmol) was added in one shot. The reaction stirred at room temperature for 0.5 h. The solution was quenched with sat. NH4Cl and extracted with CH2Cl2 (3 times). The organic layer was washed with brine, dried (MgSO4), concentrated to give a fluffy white solid 2 (0.69 g, 98% yield). MS: Calcd.: 289. Found: 290 (M+H).
