Procedure
A solution of 8-(4-fluorobenzyl)-2-(4-pyridinylmethyl)-10-toluenesulfonyloxy-3,4,7,8-tetrahydropyrido-[3′,4′:4,5]pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrazine-1,9(2H,6H)-dione (10 mg, 0.017 mmol) and sodium methoxide (3 mg, 0.052 mmol) in anhydrous methanol (0.5 mL) was heated in an oil bath at 60° C. for one hour. The solution was subjected to reverse phase preparative HPLC purification. Collection and lyophilization of appropriate fractions provided the titled compounds.
