Methyl 6-(6,7-dimethoxyquinazolin-4-ylamino)-1-naphthoate (500 mg, 1.28 mmol) was stirred with 6N NaOH (10 mL) and MeOH (10 mL) at 70° C. for 3 h. The mixture was poured into 6N HCl/ice and the pH adjusted to 7. The solid was collected and rinsed with water, stirred with MeOH (5 mL) and filtered again. The title compound was obtained (crude) as a yellow solid.
