This reaction mixture is evacuated firstly at room temperature for one hour at 4 kPa and for 20 min at 7 Pa. After cooling using an ice bath, the mixture is evacuated again for 6 hours at 7 Pa, giving 3.7 g of 1,3-dimethyl-2-chloroimidazolidinium nitrate as an oil, corresponding to a yield of 85.1%.
