Then, the thus-obtained 5′-amino-5′-deoxy-N4-benzoylcytidine (8.5 g, 24.5 mmol) was dissolved in 28% aqueous ammonia (200 ml), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. The solution was evaporated to dryness, and acetone was added to recover 5′-amino-5′-deoxycytidine (5.76 g, yield 97%).
