Sulfuric Acid → 2-Amino-2,3-dimethylbutanamide
Reaction equation
[NH2:1][C:2]([CH3:8])([CH:5]([CH3:7])[CH3:6])[C:3]#[N:4].S(=O)(=O)(O)[OH:10]>>[NH2:1][C:2]([CH3:8])([CH:5]([CH3:7])[CH3:6])[C:3]([NH2:4])=[O:10]Participants

Procedure
Similarly, hydrolysis of (+)-2-amino-2,3.-dimethylbutyronitrile with sulfuric acid yields (-)-2-amino-2,3-dimethylbutyramide, mp 81°-82° C., [α]D25 =-57.14° (c =0.0654 g/ml THF); and hydrolysis of (±)2-amino-2,3-dimethylbutyronitrile with sulfuric acid yields (±)-2-amino2,3dimethylbutyramide, mp 74.5°-76° C.
