A solution of the enone 6-8 (3.0 g, 7.45 mmol) in MeOH (30 mL) at 0° was treated with NaBH4. The ice bath was removed and the solution was stirred at room temperature for 1 hr. The reaction was quenched with water (25 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (3×125 mL). The organics were combined, dried (Na2SO4), concentrated in vacuo, and purified on silica gel (5% MeOH/CH2Cl2) to afford 1.94 g of 6-9.
