Reaction Steps
(2R,3S)-2-(4′-Methoxy-biphenyl-4-sulfonylamino)-3-(4-methyl-benzyloxy)-3-thiazol-2-propionic acid. The (2R,3S)-2-(4′-methoxy-biphenyl-4-sulfonylamino)-3-(4-methyl-benzyloxy)-3-thiazol-2-yl-propionic acid methyl ester 1f (550 mg, 1.00 mmol) is dissolved in water/methanol/THF (5 mL/5mL/5mL) and then lithium hydroxide (1 g, excess) is added. The resulting mixture is stirred overnight at room temperature. The reaction is acidified with 1N HCl and then the product precipitates out of solution to form a white powder. The product is filtered and the desired product is obtained as a white powder.
