2,4-Dimethoxyphenyl isocyanate (Aldrich, 5.6 g) was added in one portion to a stirred solution of the product from step (c) (10.3 g) in acetonitrile (50 ml). The mixture was stood at room temperature for 2 days and then evaporated in vacuo to give a mobile pale tan oil which was flash chromatographed through a silica column using cyclohexane/ethyl acetate (1:1) as eluant to give the desired product as a colourless oil (13.0 g).
