A solution of 3-(6-methoxy-pyridin-3-yloxy)-benzoic acid ethyl ester (0.5 g, 1.83 mmol) in acetonitrile (8 ml) and iodotrimethylsilane (0.439 g, 2.2 mmol) was refluxed for 1 h, the mixture was diluted with water (8 ml) and extracted with chloroform. The extract was washed with 10% of aqueous Na2S2O3, water, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure to afford 0.327 g (69%) of 3-(6-hydroxy-pyridin-3-yloxy)-benzoic acid ethyl ester as colorless powder.
