A solution of (1S,2R,3S,5R)-3-amino-5-(2,6-dichloro-purin-9-yl)-cyclopentane-1,2-diol trifluoroacetate (0.304 g, 1.0 mmol) in THF (10 mL) is treated with DIPEA (0.387 g, 3.0 mmol) followed by propionyl chloride (0.093 g, 1.0 mmol). After stirring at RT for 2 hours, the solvent is removed in vacuo and the title compound is obtained after purification by reverse phase column chromatography (Isolute™ C18, 0-100% acetonitrile in water 0.1% TFA). MS (ES+) m/e 360 (MH+).
