{(R)-1-[9-((1R,2S,3R,4S)-2,3-Dihydroxy-4-propionylamino-cyclopentyl)-6-(2,2-diphenyl-ethylamino)-9H-purin-2-yl]-pyrrolidin-3-yl}-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (ca 4.80 mmol) is dissolved in 1.25 M HCl in MeOH (60 mL). After stirring at RT for 3 days, the solvent is removed in vacuo to yield the title compound as a brown solid. This is used in the next step without further purification.
