To a solution of tert-butyl 4-allyl-4-(3-chlorophenylcarbamoyl)piperidine-1-carboxylate from step A (0.172 g, 0.453 mmol) in MeOH (10 mL) was added 4 MHCl in dioxane (0.340 mL, 1.36 mmol). The reaction was heated at 50° C. for 30 min, and then concentrated under vacuum, re-dissolved in MeOH and re-concentrated twice to give the title compound as the hydrochloride salt. MS (ES+) [M+H]+=279.
