Methylamine (7ml) was added to 7-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)-2,2-dimethyl-4-(1-naphthyl)chroman 3.3g., 0.0092 moles) in ethanol (7ml) and the solution left to stand at room temperature for 48 hours. Removal of solvent gave the title compound as a dark coloured oil which was converted to the hydrochloride salt. Recrystallization from 1:1 petroleum ether: ether gave a grey solid (0.85g., 24%) m.p. 96-100° C.
