8.0 gm (29 millimols) of ethyl 3-aminosulfinyl-1,5-dimethyl-indole-2-carboxylate were reacted analogous to Example 18(c) with 3.0 gm (19 millimols) of sodium permanganate to yield b 5.9 gm (70% of theory) of ethyl 1,5-dimethyl-3-sulfamoyl-indole-2-carboxylate, M.p.: 148° C., and 2.0 gm (28% of theory) of 4,7-dimethyl-2H-isothiazolo[4,5-b]-indole-3(2H)-one-1,1-dioxide; M.p.: 295° C. (decompositon).
