A solution of 1-amino-3-[3-(1-piperidinylmethyl)phenoxy]-2-propanol (1.19 g) and 5-bromo-1-methyl-1H-tetrazole (0.735 g) in absolute ethanol (6 ml) was heated in an autoclave at 125° for 18 h. The mixture was cooled, evaporated, saturated with sodium carbonate solution (30 ml) and ethyl acetate (30 ml) added. The mixture was stirred for 15 min. and filtered to give a white solid (830 mg) which was recrystallised from ethyl acetate (20 ml) to give the title compound (0.58 g) as white micro-crystals, m.p. 156°-7°.
