Reaction Steps
Following the procedure of Example 16 but substituting 21.4 g. (0.113M) of 2-amino-6-phenyl-4-pyrimidinol, 200 ml. water, 500 ml. chloroform, 5.6 g. sodium hydroxide and 28.8 g. I2, a yield of 29.0 g. (78%) of 2-amino-5-iodo-6-phenyl-4-pyrimidinol is obtained.
