Procedure

1-Octadecylaminocarbonyloxy-3-[7-(3-thiazolio)heptanoyloxy]-2-methylenepropane bromide (from Example 46) (0.25 g) was dissolved in 0.1M sodium 4-toluenesulfonate (50 ml) and passed through a column of Amberlite® XAD-7 (20-50 mesh, 15 ml). The column was washed with 0.1M sodium 4-(toluenesulfonate (15 ml) followed by water (45 ml). Nitrogen was passed through the column which finally was eluted with methanol (50 ml). The methanol eluate was evaporated to dryness in vacuo, and the desired product was obtained.
