1-Chloroethyl chloroformate (2.64 ml) was added to a suspension of N-[2-(1-benzyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-pyridin-4-yl)-4-chloro-phenyl]-2-chloro-isonicotinamide (530 mg) in toluene (30 ml). After 15 min. the solution was heated to reflux for 16 hours, then poured into saturated aqueous NaHCO3 solution and the mixture extracted three times with CH2Cl2. The combined organic layers were dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo to afford the crude title product (550 mg).
