A solution of 3-(4-{[(2-hydroxy-ethyl)-methyl-carbamoyl]-methoxycarbonylmethoxy}-phenyl)-propionic acid benzyl ester (step 3) (0.44 g, 1.02 mmol) in MeOH (20 ml) was treated with palladium on activated carbon (10% wt, 50 mg, 0.047 mmol) and stirred under an atmosphere of hydrogen for 20 h at RT. The reaction mixture was filtered through Celite® (filter material) and washed through with EtOAc. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo and purification of the crude product by chromatography on silica eluting with 0-10% MeOH in DCM afforded the title compound; LC-MS: 340.2 [M+H]+
